Americans start cooking Christmas dinner at 9:36 a.m., according to research.
A poll of 2,000 adults revealed how early households start to put together the much-anticipated meal, with it taking just over three hours to prep the entire thing.
The ideal time to eat it is 3:45 p.m., and it will take a further three days to eat up all the leftovers before food boredom sets in.
It emerged 16% say the best thing about the festive season is the preparation of the Christmas Day dinner, despite 44% finding the food aspect the most stressful above any other national holiday.

Ned Luke, the voice actor of main character Michael De Santa in “GTA 5,” was swatted during a YouTube livestream of himself playing the violent video game for fans on Thursday.
The actor took a phone call apparently warning him before he abruptly ended his stream.
“I gotta go,” Luke, who has over 60,000 YouTube subscribers, said during the livestream. “Now these a–holes have swatted my house, so I gotta go.
One of America’s favorite snacks is facing a crisis.
The Cavendish banana, consumed more frequently than apples and oranges by Americans, is being threatened by the virulent fungal Panama Disease, also known as Tropical Race 4, which is making its way to South America where more than 80 percent of the world’s bananas are grown.And with no known way to stop the disease — or even contain it — scientists say that over time, this type of banana may be eliminated from commercial production.
